What they are really serving up is the ritual of destination. Tenn Street Coffee is a place to go for meeting friends, relaxing, catching up, breathing and oh yes, quenching one’s thirst.
For me? I don’t do coffee, but I never met a red umbrella I didn’t want to shoot.

I’ve always liked giraffes. In Africa I got to hang out with giraffe’s in the wild, well if you call a game park the size of Rhode Island, wild. Then that’s what I did.
Giraffes are graceful, seemingly content and very watchful. They are always on the lookout for lions and other natural preditors, when a giraffe starts running you better run too.
Imagine my delighted surprise today when driving around Sloan’s Lake, I saw a giraffe. Now that’s what I call diversity in a neighborhood!
Sunsets are not predictable. Sometimes they are awesome and other times the sun goes down quickly leaving no trace lest dissipating heat. Then there are the times when you think you missed the good one, only to find you are rewarded for waiting an extra few minutes.
The sun’s message; “never give up.”
Touring NW Denver today, I spotted this tall guy out of the corner of my eye. It was worthy of a quick turn around the block and back into the alley so I could snap a picture.
Sunflowers amaze me. How do they grow so tall so fast and look so good doing it? This one excelled despite being sandwiched in a very small garden space.
The ritual of the sunset is practiced all over the world. I first noticed it on a trip to Key West, where at sun down the west end of Key West comes alive with buskers entertaining the tourists. We all watch the progress of the sun setting, when it was done applause ensued. A well earned applause it was.
Denver has many locations to watch this ritual. The front steps of the Natural History Museum are a popular place. I find I could sit there for most of the day, never moving just watching the show of clouds against the mountains and people strolling by.
Oh the memories. Not so much as a kid, but I once drove, actually owned an Ice Cream Truck. It was the summer when I first realized I was unemployable. Having to punch someone else’s time clock was not a thrill to me. So hubby and I bought invested in an old, experienced International Truck with a freezer on back.
We painted the truck, calling it Wimpy’s Ice Cream and poof! We were in business!
Everyday we cruised the Jersey Shore looking for kids with quarters. We became a ritual in their day. They looked forward to seeing us. Well, they looked forward to the treats we delivered.
I learned a lot driving that ice cream truck. Always be alert, show up on time and smile. And yes, we probably worked twice as hard then working at that 9-5 job, but when we finished counting those quarters there was a feeling of accomplishment that far surpassed cashing a paycheck.
We created a business with a few bucks, a popular product and dependable delivery.
This is rather a unique rock formation. I wonder what it means.
There are many hiking paths in Roxborough State Park. What I learned today, this one pictured is also accessible to those who prefer to ride rather than walk. Park Rangers have a nifty electric cart to transport folks to the cabin at the other end of the trail.
It is a beautiful location and certainly worth the trip.
First light brings with it a warmth from the sun that brightens any mood. Watching the shadows recede at Roxborough demonstrates the power of the sun it gives life and so much more.
