These are really called Bison, but the popular name (although incorrect) is Buffalo. This was taken on a trip to the Badlands earlier this summer. There was a storm approaching the area and the herd was ambling along to get away from the approaching lightning and rain. I couldn’t post the entire image, as I shot it in a Panoramic that is over 100 inches wide! This is just a small fraction of the image and the herd! It was amazing to watch! I am so thankful these animals are now protected in the lovely National Park.
P.S. The Badlands are NOT in Colorado but in S. Dakota. If you haven’t been there, put it on your bucket list!
