As part of HawkQuest I was able to photograph a few raptors. This little guy is so cute! With those bright eyes, I know he doesn’t miss a trick!
Moab Tree
It was a cold and overcast morning, I was happy to capture the sunburst before it was to bright to photograph. I really enjoy this location as does many others. As peaceful as it looks, it was so crowded. People come from all over the world to photograph this amazing National Park and particularly this location, Mesa Arch.

New Day Dawns
Another departure from Colorado images! This one was taken just a few steps from the iconic Mesa Arch. The icon was so crowded with people from all over the world, I decided to let them have it and walked away. This scene is what I found! It works for me!
Sunrise Inspiration
Normally I try to limit images on this site to Colorado, but I just can’t resist posting something from my second favorite state, Utah! On Christmas break I had the pleasure of visiting Moab for a few brief hours. This glorious sunrise was just one of the images I captured.
Sunrise on Antelope Island
Recently I had the good fortune to visit my friends who live outside of Salt Lake City. They know how much I enjoy photographing Bison, so they invited me out to shoot the Annual Bison Roundup held at Antelope Island State Park. We got there as the sun was rising above the mountains. As you can see it was a spectacular start to a great weekend.

On the way to the summit, I stopped to capture this scenic view. You can see for miles! Note the size of the cars on the road, it gives scale to this immense scene.

Horses on the Move
It’s been awhile since I posted a horse photo. These guys were on the Great American Horse Drive I participated in last spring. They are being driven some 60 miles to go to work as trail horses for the summer. I have to admit, I’m partial to horses with blue eyes!

A Lone Tree
The ancient tree is a Bristle Cone Pine, known to be one of earth’s oldest living plants. This particular tree grows alone, apart from the others, making it a perfect object to photograph. The views are magnificent in any direction. You can find this tree at the top of the tree line on Mt. Evans. If you visit, be sure to bring your camera!
