Denver Botanic Garden has an amazing display of flowers this August. I enjoyed some time there today, recharging my tired batteries.
Pretty Cabbage
Ok, I know it’s not really cabbage. It just looks like cabbage and it’s very attractive!
Washington Park is just one of the hundreds of beautiful Denver Parks that offer lovely flower beds. I so enjoy visiting this one in late summer or early fall.
It is ablaze with color!
Encroaching Gardens
Denver has been on a campaign to educate citizens to use less water. Throughout the city one can see the signs “Use Only What You Need.” Obviously the campaign is working.
Homeowners have changed from having green grass everywhere, to planting flower and sometimes vegetable gardens. Now in full bloom the yards are bursting with color and size. It’s not uncommon to have the plants taking over the normal walkway, causing pedestrians to take a slight detour.
I don’t mind giving flowers a break. They won’t be around much longer so let them celebrate their beauty!
A Tall Fellow
Touring NW Denver today, I spotted this tall guy out of the corner of my eye. It was worthy of a quick turn around the block and back into the alley so I could snap a picture.
Sunflowers amaze me. How do they grow so tall so fast and look so good doing it? This one excelled despite being sandwiched in a very small garden space.
Colorado Columbine
The Columbine is the State Flower of Colorado. It is a beautiful and delicate flower that comes in many colors.
I’ve been in search of a meadow of nothing but Columbines. There are tales and even photos of such a field. To date I haven’t found it, but I continue to search.
Ladybug Ladybug
I upgraded my old iPhone to the new 3Gs yesterday. The detail this camera picks up is amazing. Judge for yourself, can you see the little ladybug?
